Going to Baguio for the AHC? Some Accommodation & Resto Suggestions

We have been to Baguio many times in the past - it is one of our favorite cities.  But during our last vacation in Baguio we got to try 1 new stopover restaurant in Tarlac which served yummy food at a reasonable price, stayed in a new accommodation which made us fall in love with the Baguio weather all over again, and hanged out in a cafe chocoholics would love.

1.  Matutina Restaurant
My father was the one who discovered this place.  We ate at the restaurant along Tarlac, altho there are also two other branches near SM Rosario.

Delicious pakbet. Not too salty, with a hint of sweetness. The vegetables are also not overcooked.  Served with chicharon on top.
 My favorite oyster cake
 Steamed alimango na walang kalansa-lansa
 Pork barbeque - masarap din
kinilaw na hipon - two thumbs up!
 inihaw na liempo
 inihaw na pusit :)

2.  Forest Log Cabin, Camp John Hay
Usually, when we go to Baguio, we just stay at Arn's barracks or some very cheap accommodation since we don't stay in our room that much and spend most of our time outdoors, anyway.  A clean room, with fresh pillows and beddings, and a clean bathroom is usually enough for us - just a cozy, neat space where we can retire after a day filled with activities.

But since we were with our extended family last January, we got to try staying in one of the Forest Log Cabins of Camp John Hay.  Iba pala ang Baguio pag maganda ang tinutuluyan. Naglelevel-up ang ganda. Here, you'd get to really enjoy Baguio's weather, the smell of pine trees and being away from the pollution and the crowd in the main city.  This is ideal for those who have been to Baguio several times and are in Baguio not to really see the sights but to enjoy the weather and hibernate.  You can take strolls to savor the cool evening air or have peaceful jogs in the morning - things you can't do in the sadly, now very congested city.

To reserve a cabin, you can contact Cecile Dungo 09178335123 or Eva Manzano 09055094509.  Cost for an overnight stay is between P10-P12K.  There are 3 rooms, a fireplace, large backyard.  You can cook food here although there are also many restaurants inside Camp John Hay.

3.  Choco-late de Batirol
Our first time to try this rustic cafe inside Camp John Hay.  We went night-time biking in Burnham Park (another revelation - Burnham is nicer at night! fewer vendors, fewer people) and we went to Choco-late de Batirol to cap off the evening.

Drinks are priced at P80-P90.  We ordered the Traditional Chocolate, Almond and the boys had the Choco Mallows.
